
Welcome to the page of the Art department at Westosha Central High School. The Art Department at Central High School is structured so that students perform to the State Standards for Visual Arts Education and the mission of Central High. Through our course offerings we give students opportunities to learn how visual language is and has been used to communicate meaning for a wide variety of purposes. Throughout the curriculum students develop skills in art perception, production, and reflection. The study of art vocabulary and terms, famous art and written aesthetics, and reflective techniques, such as oral discussion and written comments are incorporated into the units of study. The importance of computer technology in the world of art is recognize and addressed in several contexts, in the creation of art products, students learn to use computer research, photography and design programs. It is our intention to share with our students the information that is needed to create and to appreciate art as well as enthusiasm for the endless possibilities for creative personal statement making. The goals of our students are diverse and we direct our instruction toward art as a possible career as well as to a life enriching activity.
