Welcome
I have been teaching here at good old CHS for 23 years and while I have taught some other classes (geography and sociology), for most of my time, I have been teaching US History and AP History to our students. I also was head wrestling coach for 20 years, an assistant football coach for 18 years and coached track for 12 years. I have a BA and MA in history and education. I enjoy teaching mostly due to the interaction with students and my colleagues.
Courses
U.S. History: a survey course that covers modern US history from WW I to the present. The idea is to give students a basic understanding of the important people and events that have shaped our nations and our world in the 20th and into the 21st century.
AP US History: A much more in-depth look into our nation's history from discovery through the present day and understanding important economic, social and political events in American history. In addition to exposing students to the historical content , APUSH should also help students to analyze and interpret primary sources, including documentary material, maps, statistical tables, and pictorial and graphic evidence of historical events. Students need to have an awareness of multiple interpretations of historical issues and should have a sense of multiple causation and change over time, and should be able to compare developments or trends from one period to another.
