August 2020

Dear Parents and Students:

Having just completed my first year as the District Administrator at Westosha Central High School, I’m sincerely impressed with all of the wonderful things happening in this community. But this comes as no surprise. I’ve been an active community member of western Kenosha County and have witnessed for over 25 years the many rich traditions and long-standing commitment this community has for this school.

Our focus at CHS remains constant. We believe that all students can learn and that all students will find success. We care about each and every student at CHS and we will work hard to build meaningful relationships with each and every student. Our school will continue to be a safe place where students are engaged, challenged to meet the standards necessary for college or a career, and where innovation and creativity are encouraged and nurtured. To reach these goals, it is our belief that students need to get involved in the many opportunities given to them. We are fortunate that we can offer a wide range of different sports and other co-curricular activities that will meet every student’s interests. We encourage students to participate in at least one activity. Studies clearly demonstrate that students who are engaged in high school activities outside their daily classroom studies have greater success than those not involved in such activities. Last week, we shared the “Return to Central” plan for the beginning of the 2020-21 school year. Click here for a copy of our plan.

The district is committed to continuous growth; we celebrate the many great things happening, but are always looking for areas to enhance, grow, and explore. The district will focus on the following goals for 2020-21 which include, but are not limited to:

  1. Completion of the Facility Study that began in 2019-20; the district will explore needs and priorities to continue making Westosha Central a destination school district in Wisconsin. Once the facility needs are prioritized, the district will explore funding mechanisms to reach the goals. Be on the lookout for a community survey later this fall.

  2. Implementation of a Learning Management System (LMS). The district will be using Schoology as our LMS. In short, an LMS is a software application or web-based technology used to plan, document, implement and assess the learning process. The LMS will allow teachers a central place to house curriculum, learning resources, and facilitate the learning process. Students will have access to the LMS for assignments, tutorials, and instructional support materials.

  3. Continuing to foster innovative learning opportunities for students in and outside of the classroom.

  4. Increasing the social-emotional supports for students at Central. While we offer many great things, we want to explore and implement new ideas.

It is my promise to our students, staff, parents, and community to be involved in helping our school be the best school, not only in the area, but in the state. I welcome your feedback and ideas as it is my belief that all stakeholders need to work together to reach this goal. Please feel free to contact me via email at or call me at 843-2321, extension 222. I, along with our amazing staff, am committed to help EVERY student find academic and emotional success.

Please review the following important information regarding registration. Our online registration system will open on August 17th. The format will easily walk you through the registration process, allowing you to update forms and pay fees from the Parent Portal site of Infinite Campus. There will also be an opportunity to receive in-person assistance on August 19th from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Our goal, as defined in our school district mission in part, is to, “…ensure all students acquire the knowledge, skills, and character to thrive as contributing members of a global society”. With your help we can accomplish our goals. We look forward to working with your family in 2020-21 and beyond.

Again, welcome to CHS and we are excited to begin our journey together.

 With Excitement,

John Gendron
District Administrator
