What is SkillsUSA?
SkillsUSA is a student run organization intended to benefit students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. SkillsUSA members develop into well-rounded people with technical, academic, and employability skills that will help them get a job and have a successful career. Students will be building these skills through chapter meetings, competitive skills contests, leadership conferences, and other activities. Each chapter chooses, plans, and conducts its own activities. SkillsUSA helps each student excel in all areas of life.
In other words, do you want to compete with other students around the region and state? It’s fun and is a great way to test yourself on specific skills.
Competitions include but are not limited to:
Engineering challenges (problem solving)
Facilithon (what do you do in an emergency - live emergency scenario)
Computer graphics
Job interviewing
Medical terminology
Extemporaneous speech
Robotics (urban search and rescue)
