Application & Enrollment

Application

Southeast Virtual Academy (SVA) is open to all students in grades 4-12 of the Westosha Central High School District & Wheatland Jt. 1 School District, as well as students applying through Wisconsin Open Enrollment pursuant to Wis. Stat. §§ 118.51, 118.52, or 118.53. Application to and attendance at SVA is voluntary, and no tuition is charged.

Parents will apply to SVA through an electronic application form. A parent/guardian is encouraged to attend at least one information meeting in order to assure an understanding of the mission, philosophy, and approach of the school.

Enrollment

Once the application process and lottery (if necessary) is complete, students enter the enrollment process. The enrollment process requires that your student complete the enrollment process with Wheatland Jt. 1 School District if in grades 5-8 and Westosha Central School District if in grades 9-12, as they are the authorizing districts under Southeast Virtual Academy. That process is outlined on their websites and linked here: [Link to Westosha enrollment process] [Link to Wheatland enrollment process]. During the enrollment process, student records are obtained, and any necessary meetings to discuss individual student needs are scheduled. A start date will then be established and communicated.

Wisconsin Open Enrollment Program

A term used in Wisconsin for inter-district public school enrollment, allowing parents to apply for their children to attend public school in a school district other than the one in which they reside.  The Open Enrollment Program is not applicable to Independently-Authorized Charter Schools.  The regular open enrollment period in Wisconsin refers to a window of time between early February and late April when families can apply to enroll in a school district different from their resident district for the following school year. There is also the Alternative Application for Open Enrollment, which allows parents to apply for open enrollment at any time during a school year if certain criteria are met.  To learn more about Wisconsin Open Enrollment, click here.
