Meet Emily Maxon, a 2024 WCHS graduate currently attending Gateway Technical College & Madison Technical College. Emily is our second Alumni Spotlight for #CTEMonth! During her time at Westosha Central, she was active in student organizations and took a variety of courses in our Family & Consumer Science Department.
Advice to current students:
My advice to current students would be to take classes that have even the slightest interest for you. It may spark a new passion. I never would have thought interior design would be what I want to do as a career in my life. There are many dual credit classes at Westosha that give you a boost in interests and help get you ahead in college.
Students in HOSA attend a variety of conferences and competitions throughout the year and also complete service projects! This organization has a focus on empowering students to learn more about health-related occupations! #CTEMonth #weAREwestosha
Students in FCCLA participate in a variety of competitions and service projects throughout the year! Recent projects include projects with the Sharing Center and Solstice Sanctuary! WCHS will be hosting the Regional competition on Monday, February 16th! #CTEMonth #weAREwestosha
The Association of Business Students competes in both DECA and FBLA competitions throughout the year! So far, we've had a combined 28 students qualify for State, and 40 students win medals at our Regional/District competitions! Way to go! #CTEMonth #weAREwestosha

It is not through self-service or wealth that we are fulfilled. What I have found is that the peace and sense of contentment I have so desired has come in moments when I have been able to use my gifts and abilities to love and serve others. Carefully discern and pray about where you feel you will be able to use your gifts to serve others best. This is where your true satisfaction in a career comes from.

Raise Your Voice Club students completed the NAMI Ending the Silence training to learn about the warning signs of mental health conditions and what steps to take if they or a loved one are showing symptoms of a mental health condition. The presentation also included a personal testimony from a young adult who shared her journey towards recovery. Students left the training with a green bandana to tie to their backpacks and represent that they are safe individuals to approach with mental health-related issues. It also represents that they know how to connect students to resources such as Student Services or the 9-8-8 mental health crisis line. #weAREwestosha

DECA will be hosting the State Career Development Conference in Lake Geneva on Monday, February 23rd, and Tuesday, February 24th. There will be 10 students from WCHS competing at the 2026 conference.
