Meet Imagin Melrose, a 2024 WCHS graduate currently attending the University of West London. She is our final Alumni Spotlight for #CTEMonth! During her time at Westosha Central, she was active in student organizations, athletics, and took a variety of courses in our Business & Marketing Department.

Advice to current students:
My one piece of advice would be to make little goals, no matter how silly the motivation behind it may seem. I know that I improved my writing and presentation abilities in high school just because I wanted to go on a trip for DECA. In the end, it improved my skills, and that's how I speak today, even if, at the time, it didn’t seem like it had a significant effect. Those goals are what lead you further to what you want to achieve.

Our next #CTEMonth Business Partner Spotlight is Mindy Cooling - State Farm Agent! For students considering a career in insurance or as an entrepreneur, her advice is to stay curious and never stop learning. In insurance, understanding people and their needs while building trust are just as important as knowing technical insurance details. For entrepreneurship, be prepared to take risks, learn from failures, and stay resilient. Both paths require strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a willingness to adapt to a multitude of changes. Most importantly, focus on building relationships with customers, employees, centers of influence, and fellow business owners while delivering value—these are key to long-term success in any career. #weAREwestosha

Meet Ben Hubbard, a current Senior at WCHS!

He's active in our Tech Ed department, specifically in Woods & Carpentry. His career goal is to become a Heavy Equipment Operator through an apprenticeship program.

Important things he's learned in our CTE courses are that mistakes will happen, but there's always a way to solve a problem. His favorite project was building sheds in Carpentry. Some advice he has for underclassmen: don't take the time for granted, try out tech ed classes early, so you can figure out what you enjoy. #CTEMonth #weAREwestosha

Meet Carly Lois, a 2022 WCHS graduate currently attending UW-Madison. Carly is our next Alumni Spotlight for #CTEMonth! During her time at Westosha Central, she was active in student organizations, athletics, and took a variety of courses in our Business & Marketing Department.

Advice to current students:
I would strongly encourage students to take advantage of as many career and technical education (CTE) courses as possible. These classes not only strengthened my foundational knowledge before entering college, but also provided transferable college credit that allowed me to graduate early. More importantly, they helped me gain clarity and confidence in my career direction at an early stage. I would also encourage students to get involved in the many clubs and activities that Central has to offer. My involvement in National Honor Society, Girls Golf, The Falcon’s Nest School Store, Track & Field, Peer Helpers, the Freshmen Mentor Program, DECA, and FBLA played an important role in developing the skills and experiences I continue to rely on today.

Meet Drew Eckhart, a 2023 WCHS graduate currently attending the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. He is our next Alumni Spotlight for #CTEMonth! During his time at Westosha Central, he was active in student organizations, athletics, and took a variety of courses in our Technology & Engineering Department.

Advice to current students:
As a current college student, my biggest advice to high schoolers is to explore as much as possible. Take different classes, join new clubs, and try hobbies that push you outside your comfort zone. High school is one of the best times to experiment and discover what genuinely interests you, without the pressure of having everything figured out. The more you explore now, the more confident and self-aware you’ll be when it’s time to choose your path.
